DIY retailer relocates business across the road

Independent retailer Do It Best Hardware is re-locating and re-launching and hoping for a boost in business.
The little London-based DIY and hardware retailer is moving its unit to another, only metres away, on the opposite side of the road. The bigger shop will allow more space for stock and, after a complete re-fit, it is due to open at the end of September.
The inside of the unit is being re-designed after it was previously occupied as an off-license. The owner, Ali Hamid, will continue to sell his usual stock, including paint, DIY tools, plumbing and electrical equipment as well as carpets, flooring, tiling and home accessories.
"We're looking to sell bathroom units and bathroomware as well," said Mr Hamid. "We also want to open a gardening section and make the store as upmarket as possible seeing as we are moving into new premises."
Mr Hamid is new to the DIY/hardware industry but he is encompassing himself in every aspect of his new business. The new store, like the old one, is on a busy main road in Stockwell, south-west London, and Mr Hamid is hoping for a successful re-opening.
"I am hoping for a positive customer response to the re-launch," he said, "and I'm only nervous about getting everything ready in time to open as it will be a big day."
