Sheppards DIY in Coventry celebrated its 50th anniversary with open days last Saturday and Sunday.

The event was opened by the city's deputy Lord Mayor Gary Crookes who cut through a chain with a pair of bolt cutters.

"We wanted to keep the DIY theme," managing director Ken Sheppard told DIY Week. As well as special promotion, customers were offered food drinks and a prize draw.

Mr Sheppard said that turnover trebled compared with a normal weekend.
