DIYer recovers after screwdriver penetrates head
The 25-year-old Pole was working in his garden when he apparently lost consciousness. He collapsed onto the screwdriver, which penetrated 5cm into his head - just missing his brain.

Incredibly, though, when the man - who did not wish to be identified - came round he did not realise what had happened. It was only when he looked at himself in a mirror because he was aware of "some weird thing near my eyes" that he saw the tool sticking out of his forehead above his right eye.

He then smoked a cigarette before asking a friend to take him to hospital.

Doctors at University Hospital in Bialystok took three hours to remove the screwdriver, and the man is now said to be making a full recovery.
