Britain's homes have an accumulated 106.4m maintenance problems, ranging from leaky taps and radiators to broken locks and creaky floorboards.
New research from Which? Trusted Traders shows that doors that don't close or lock properly are the most common property gripe, with poor state of decoration and mould on the walls coming in second and third respectively.
At the same time, 55% of homeowners say they take great care of their home and have pride in its appearance, but 37% admit they tend to put off maintenance jobs around the house.
Homeowners in Northern Ireland are the most house-proud, while those in the south-west are the most relaxed about the state of their homes. When it comes to gardening, again Northern Irish homeowners put in the most amount of effort to keep their outside space in top condition.
Stephen McCluskey, managing director of Which? Trusted Traders, said: "Small problems with our properties can add unnecessary stress to our lives. It's amazing that dodgy doors are so common in UK properties, especially when they're such a safety and security risk."
