Poundbury Gardens, part of the Gardens Group, has donated a new computer to Ridgeway Radio, a volunteer-run 24-hour radio station based at Dorset County Hospital.
The new computer is one of five to be given to the radio station, which has been on air for 49 years, bringing the studio up to date with current computerised broadcasting technology.
John Shepherd, a presenter from Ridgeway Radio, explained: "Ridgeway Radio does not receive funding and, with most of radio broadcasting now taken care of by computers, we desperately needed to update our studio equipment. We are extremely grateful to the team at Poundbury Gardens for their support and generous donation of a computer. We are also really looking forward to introducing a new weekly gardening feature with Lucy Simpson, the manager of Poundbury Gardens."
Poundbury Gardens manager Lucy Simpson added: "Knowing how invaluable the station's entertainment is to the patients, it's a real pleasure to be able to support Ridgeway Radio. I am really looking forward to joining the line-up and contributing with the new gardening slot on John Shepherd's show, where I'll be offering seasonal tips, advice and talking about my favourite plants."
