Dunelm reports pre-tax profits up 12.3% and 80% multichannel growth

Homewares retailer Dunelm has reported a pre-tax profit figure of £108.1m for the 52 weeks to the end of June 2013, a rise of 12.3% against the same period last year. It added that it has also seen an 80% growth in multichannel revenues; this now represents over 4% of the total business.
Total revenue at Dunelm was £677.2m,
up 12.2% on last year, but like-for-like growth was up just 1.7% compared to 3.1% in 2012. The retailer opened 14 new stores in the year, however, which included two relocations and one re-opening and it now has 126 stores, the bulk of which are out-of-town superstores. A further 10 new stores are contractually committed. The company's average store footprint is now targeted towards 30,000sq ft, which, it claims, enables it to offer over 20,000 homewares products.
