The director of Durston Garden Products Steve Durston recently completed a challenge he set himself six years ago to walk the 630 mile West Coastal Path running from Studland Bay in Dorset to Minehead in Somerset.
For the final leg of the journey, Mr Durston was joined by his son Dan who also works for the family business as national sales manager and between them they managed to raise £1,056 for Diabetes UK, a charity very close to Mr Durston's heart, as he has been living with the condition for more than 50 years.
Mr Durston said: “It was a wonderful feeling when Dan and I arrived in Minehead. Knowing that I had finally completed the journey I had set myself six years ago. I have always enjoyed walking and although tat particular journey is now complete, I still intend to keep up the walking as it is such a great way to relax and enjoy our great British countryside which really is quite spectacular when you get out there and truly take in its pure beauty ”.
Mr Durston was diagnosed with type one diabetes over 50 years ago and since then has carried out a number of charity events in aid of the organisation.
