Ebay sellers offer Click & Collect at Argos
Published: 24 September 2013
Ebay and Argos have joined forces in a new trial where selected Ebay sellers will be able to offer a Click & Collect service, with customers able to pick up their items at Argos stores throughout the UK.
At least 50 Ebay merchants are taking part in the trial and around 150 Argos stores are included, set in prime locations across the country. This will enable Ebay customers to order a wide range of merchandise to be ready for collection at a store that suits them. This is a first for the UK - a link between one of the world's largest online marketplaces and a retailer with a nationwide store network.
The choice and convenience offered with this trial is set to enhance the already significant Click & Collect-style service offered by retailers. With the number of online retailers growing and shoppers continuing to use digital channels to make orders, Click & Collect is expected to grow even more in the UK. According to the Econsultancy Online Shopping Survey, 40% of UK shoppers used some form of Click & Collect service over Christmas 2012.
Argos managing director, John Walden, said: "With the continuing growth of online shopping, customers increasingly expect faster, cheaper and more convenient fulfilment of their orders. Few companies move as many products as effectively as Argos through a national network of local stores. Ebay is already a strong partner with Argos and a logical partner for the trial."
Ebay Marketplaces president, Devin Wenig, added: "We continue to find new ways to connect buyers and sellers. Smart retailers are innovating, reimagining the store and what it means to shop. We're proud to join Argos on this journey."
Argos has pioneered Click & Collect since 2000 and this part of its business has now grown to around a third of sales.
