Electrical accessories are deemed dangerous

Published: 12 November 2012
Two electrical accessories are amongst the latest products highlighted by authorities as posing a danger to end users.
The Acuma Pikendusjuhe extension lead poses a risk of electric shock because the mechanical and electrical connections are not capable of withstanding mechanical loads resulting from normal use.

The product, which comes packed in a plastic bag and is model number 113005 and batch number/barcode 7394363350319, does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 60884.

A ban has been imposed on marketing the product.

Also causing concern is a voltage tester from Stark Tools, whose metal tip is too long and protection rim not high enough. The user could therefore touch the live metal tip during normal use. The product does not comply with the Low Voltage Directive and the relevant European standard EN 61243.

The product, model number 7781 and barcode 4895136977816, has been compulsorily withdrawn and recalled.

Both products are made in China.
