Expansion plans at The Range

The Range is set to open 45 stores in the next three years, and opened its first store in Scotland on Friday.
The new Glasgow store was opened over the weekend bringing the chain's total number of stores to 76. The expansion is set to create 1,750 jobs as the company plans to open more stores across Scotland.
The new outlet was opened by the owner and founder of The Range, Chris Dawson, who was accompanied by the Deputy Lord Provost Bailie Gerald Leonard, Miss Scotland Jamey Bowers and celebrity designer Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen.
Speaking at the opening, Mr Dawson told Retail Week: "We have been working towards opening stores in Scotland for a long time but wanted to make sure the company was structured to support the expansion. We have recently opened a huge 750,000sq ft warehouse in Doncaster that will support Scotland temporarily while we look at a specific warehouse in Scotland."
The retailer's UK-wide plans include opening 45 stores in the next three years and creating 6,750 jobs as a result. Seven new stores have already been opened this year and five more are set to open, with an outlet in Southend-on-Sea due soon and others in Edinburgh, Dundee and Milton Keynes. 20 more will follow in 2014.
Mr Dawson said that each new store creates at least 150 jobs, along with supporting roles at its head office, in Plymouth, its warehouse, shop-fitting company and waste management departments.
