Expected boost for retailers this bank holiday weekend

Consumers are expected to hit the high streets this bank holiday weekend, to shop for DIY and gardening products to make the most of the expected warm weather.
People are expected to be cranking up their BBQs and soaking up the sun this bank holiday weekend before the back-to-school routine begins early in September. As a result, retailers should be busy with people visiting their local DIY and gardening stores, as well as clothing stores for their back-to-school bits.
Retail analyst at Verdict, Matt Walton, said: "The weekend will provide people with the opportunity to spend time in their gardens and around their homes doing the projects they've been putting off for a while. It's the first bank holiday since May so retailers should really take advantage of this.
He added that garden retailers could benefit as people maximise the amount of time they get to spend outside, gardening or having BBQs.
Food retailers should do well as the warm weather will encourage people to buy food and drink for BBQs and picnics.
