Finalists for 2009 LABC Awards announced

Published: 3 September 2009
Building industry prepares the 2009 LABC National Building Excellence Awards.
The 11 categories incorporate all building types, from domestic conversions, educational and healthcare to housing developments and retail centres. There is also an award for the best partnership with a local authority and a 'Winner Among Winners award.'

LABC chief executive Paul Everall said: "Firstly, I want to congratulate all of the finalists on their achievements. I can honestly say that the standard of work reflected in this year's nominated projects is the finest I've seen. It's great to host a ceremony like this where the spotlight is on the nominees and the industry as a whole.

Winning an LABC Building Excellence Award means that your project is recognised as meeting the highest building standards as defined by the Building Regulations. These cover structure, fire, energy, access and all the other requirements that deliver healthy, safe, sustainable and accessible buildings. I look forward to this year's ceremony, and I'm sure a good time will be had by all."

A variety of guests, including senior government and building control officials, along with contractors, architects and engineers are expected to attend the event on October 20, 2009 at the Marriott Hotel in London.

The 2009 Finalists List is available to download from the LABC website at www.labc.uk.com/awards
