Firefighters battle Wickes blaze for four hours

Wickes in Worksop was the scene of a dramatic blaze earlier this month – thought to be started deliberately – as firefighters spent four hours battling flames after material outside the store ignited and spread.
The fire broke out at around 11pm on May 18 when a large amount of insulation material next to the DIY store was set alight. Nottinghamshire Police have since said they are treating the blaze as arson.
The blaze was extinguished with the help of fire crews from Worksop, Edwinstore, Highfields and Mansfield at around 3.30am. Station manager Simon Glew was at the scene, and said that the crews “did a great job” at “preventing [the fire from] spreading further inside the building.”
Although Wickes became smoke-logged, the main damage was restricted to the outside of the store. No one is believed to have been hurt in the incident, and police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them on 101.
