Garden tools manufacturer Fiskars is appealing to the public to nominate community garden spaces throughout the UK that are in need of some serious attention.
The Orange Thumb Campaign will fund 10 different regeneration projects chosen by a panel of judges in September from the list nominated by the public. Those chosen will receive tools, money and people to renovate community outdoor spaces such as parks, village greens and play areas.
The Fiskars Orange Thumb team is also looking for local volunteers who are interested in taking part in the work itself.
The thinking behind the project, says Fiskars UK senior brand manager Wayne Greensmith, is to give something back to local communities.
Members of the public (and indeed local retailers and garden centre owners) can register their interest in becoming a volunteer and/or nominate a green space for regeneration by signing up at
www.orangethumb.co.uk.
Alternatively, nominations can be made in writing to Fiskars Orange Thumb Project, Fiskars Brands UK, Newlands Avenue, Bridgend CF31 2XA.
