Fiskars sells Sankey to Strata Products

Published: 11 December 2013
Fiskars is selling off its UK garden container, propagation and water storage business, Sankey, along with its related manufacturing assets.

The operation is being bought by Strata Products, a leading UK supplier of plastic storage, recycling, garden and baby products.

The divestment of the UK-based Sankey business and manufacturing will have no effect on Fiskars' regional Ebertsankey brand, which is being launched in several markets. Ebertsankey specialises in grow-it-yourself and indoor and outdoor garden containers, and earlier this year won a Red Dot design award for its Helsinki pot.

The Sankey business had a turnover of €11.7m in 2012.

Fiskars says the transaction will enable it to focus more strongly on its pan-European offering and international brand portfolio.

"Fiskars' leading position in garden hand tools in the highly competitive UK garden and DIY market provides a strong platform for exploring new business opportunities," commented Fiskars UK managing director John Grayson.

"Fiskars UK is now in an excellent position to focus sales efforts on Fiskars' international core categories by utilising the group's world-class product and brand offering."
