Five more Burdens depots find buyers

Published: 16 January 2013
The administrators of utility and civil engineering products supplier Burdens have sold five more of its depots.
Financial advisory firm Duff & Phelps, which is acting as administrator to WTB Trading - the main trading arm of the Burdens Group - and to WTB Group, has already sold 22 of Burdens' 38 branches to Wolseley and two to builders merchant Bradfords.

Now, five more have been acquired. MPS has bought the Swindon branch, Grafton Group the Fareham and Olney branches, Carboclass/Lords the Heathrow branch and Tippers the Nuneaton branch.

Philip Duffy of Duff & Phelps said: "The Burdens brand is well known and affiliated with quality, with a strong established client base. We're delighted that this has proved to be attractive for a number of buyers, ensuring the successful sale of the depots so far, thus preserving the business and jobs.

"There is interest expressed in the remaining branches, which we will continue to trade as a going concern whilst we continue discussions with those parties considering acquiring some, or all of the remaining branches."
