Dunlop Adhesives has announced the first winner in the 'Dunlop Sporting Year 08'.

John Robinson, a tile fixer from Northumberland, scooped two free tickets to the most prestigious event in the horseracing calendar - the John Smith's Grand National held at Aintree on the April 5.

The Grand National prize marks the end of the first phase of in a 12-month promotion, which has been developed to help stockists drive sales by capitalising on Dunlop's strong association with sport.

As part of the promotion, purchasers are offered the chance to win tickets to a whole host of high-profile sporting events.

Prizes are up for grabs each quarter with the second phase of the competition currently underway.

This will see one lucky individual winning tickets to see England take on South Africa at Lords on the first day of the npower test on the July 10.

This giveaway will be followed by perhaps the biggest prize of all - the opportunity to win flights, accommodation and tickets to the Italian Grand Prix in Monza in September.

The campaign is fully supported by advertising, striking point-of-sale related to each giveaway and special Sporting Year merchandise.

Debi Bailey, senior product manager at Dunlop Adhesives said: "We are strongly committed to developing innovative initiatives to help our stockists maximise their sales and the Dunlop Sporting Year promotion is proving to be one of our best yet.

"We are looking forward to the second phase of the competition in which all new supporting POS will provide our stockists with even more opportunity to really drive sales."
