Floors-2-Go, the 132-strong wood and laminate flooring retailer has entered administration with the immediate decision to close 41 stores with a loss of close to 100 jobs.
The company has experienced a downturn in sales recently, which, in a statement released by administrators Kroll, it attributed directly to "the depressed housing market and the subsequent fall in spending on home improvement."
On Friday July 18 DIY Week reported that the company was rumoured to be seeking new investment. The company called in administrators on Monday July 21.
Kroll partner Fraser Gray said, "We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone involved. Retailers are battling a particularly hostile trading environment at present and it is clear that the pain is being felt acutely in the home improvements sector."
