Focus brand director Richard Bird steps down

Focus DIY brand director Richard Bird has stepped down from his role to become a director of Focus' parent company FLP2.
Mr Bird, who has been heavily involved in turning around the retailer's brand proposition, will no longer be involved in the day-to-day running of the business.
Formerly managing director of Wickes, he joined Focus in 2007 and developed the chain's
Genesis format, involving a more rationalised product offer, 'shop-within-a-shop' layouts, and a new blue and green colour scheme to differentiate areas in store.
Chairman Bill Grimsey said: "We are grateful for the work Richard has undertaken for Focus during the past three years. He has been invaluable in the development of the new Focus Genesis store formats, which will be vital for the turnaround of our business in coming months. Richard has developed a strong brand positioning; it is now up to the team here to roll it out effectively."
