Focus downsizes

Published: 23 May 2008
Estate to shrink by 250,000 sq ft.
Focus DIY is to downsize 40 of its 176 stores.

Chief executive Bill Grimsey said the move allows Focus to operate from a compact format, which it can then use to become the 'best in the sector'.

"The stores we have are well-located and fit our target profile, but we still have too much space," Mr Grimsey told Retail Week.

Focus has now enlisted the help of property agency Harvey Spack Field to negotiate with landlords to take back the space.
