Former Webbs director receives university Fellowship

Garden writer and three-times Chelsea Gold medal winner Marigold Webb is to receive a Fellowship from the University of Worcester this month.
Mrs Webb, together with her husband Richard, was, until retirement in 2004, a director of award winning garden centre Webbs in Wychbold, Worcestershire.
She designed three Chelsea gold-medal winning gardens in 1990, 1992, and 1996 and also designed the original Riverside Gardens at Wychbold, which were opened free to the public in 2000.
Marigold and Richard's son Ed Webb is the current Executive Chairman of Webbs Garden Centres Ltd.
Mrs Webb has been a freelance garden writer since 2002 and is a member of the Garden Media Guild. During her illustrious career she has been employed by the National Trust as landscape consultant at Brockhampton in Bromyard, Herefordshire and at Uppark, South Harting, West Sussex.
She gained a certificate in garden design at Pershore College of Horticulture in 1984 and a graduate diploma in garden conservation (Architectural School of Architecture) in 1988.
Mrs Webb said, "I am delighted to receive this honour in recognition of my garden design and writing work over the years. I am very much looking forward to receiving the Fellowship."
Professor David Green, University of Worcester Vice Chancellor, said, "Marigold Webb is a most distinguished professional gardener and writer as well as active participant in many good causes. A Fellow of the Linnaean Society and Chelsea Gold medal winner she is the creator of acclaimed gardens and the University is delighted to be welcoming her as a member of our College of Fellows."
