David Green of Green's Garden Centre sentenced to two years imprisonment after admitting assault on five-year old girl.
Garden centre boss David Green has been jailed for two years and two months after admitting eight counts of indecent assault on a five-year old girl. The 67-year old has also been ordered to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.
According to a report in the Hull Daily Mail, Mr Green's victim came forward years after the abuse actually took place, contacting helpline Childline. Mr Green, who was described as a "pillar of his community", ran Green's Garden Centre in Brough, East Yorkshire with his brother Paul, after joining the family business some 32 years ago.
During the sentencing at Hull Crown Court, Judge David Tremberg was reported to have said: "You have lost your good name and prejudiced the future of your family business, which you have worked so hard to build."
Green's Garden Centre was established in 1919 when Mr Green's grandfather, Henry Wallis Green began selling vegetables by horse and cart in Hessle, Yorkshire.
