Garden centre to double in size
Published: 18 February 2009
A council has given the green light to plans for a garden centre to more than double in size.
Sanders GardenWorld in Somerset, part of the Wyevale group, now has permission to expand by 35,000sq ft with 116 parking spaces.
It's already the south west's largest purpose-built garden centre and the expansion will include improvements to the nearby A38, including a new roundabout.
David Pierpoint, the development director at Wyevale, told diyweek.net: "The planning consent allows for further flexibility in the goods sold from the building and will allow GardenWorld to trade its full garden centre offering.
"The planned development represents a new investment into the local economy and the creation of 50 to 60 new jobs."
Mr Pierpoint would not discuss the costs of the development except to add that it was 'multi-million pound' scheme.
A start date for the work has not been agreed yet.
