Garden centres compete for Ruxley Rose prize

Ten Garden Centre Association stores from around the country are battling it out for the Ruxley Rose plant retailing competition.
The winners of the new look competition, which combines scores for houseplants, outdoor plants and the 'wow factor' of plants during visits, will be announced at the GCA conference on January 26 next year at the Cotswold Water park Hotel in Gloucester.
Ruxley Rose finalist judge, Roger Crookes, said: "I was amazed and more than slightly humbled as I toured the country by the enthusiasm, energy and sheer determination to put on an inspirational show."
The finalists are Cowells near Newcastle, Lady Green near Southport, Webbs of Wychbold, Raglan garden centre near Abergavenny in south Wales, Planters near Tamworth, Poplars near Dunstablem Sunshine Garden centre in north London, Knights of Betchworth near Reigate, Stewarts Gardenlands in Christchurch and Trelawney near Wadebridge Cornwall.
