As Waitrose expands its gardening offer, the retailer sees a rise in sales of 22.4% in Q1.
For the 13-week period ending April 26 2014, Waitrose has seen an increase in gardening sales of 22.4% compared to the same period last year.
Waitrose's managing director, Mark Price, said: "Our customers' second-favourite hobby, after cooking, is gardening and we're continuing to grow our offer."
The retailer has now rolled out gardening shed-style pods in which it sells products to 180 branches.
Mr Price added that the
new Alan Titchmarsh range, which was launched in February and includes grow-your-own veg, has already proved a popular addition to Waitrose's horticultural offering.
This rise in sales shows Waitrose is progressing with its plan to increase its share of the gardening market.
