GCA to launch web-based training initiative
Published: 13 February 2012
The Garden Centre Association (GCA) has revealed plans to launch a new resource which should provide its members with an accessible online training tool.
The eLearning software is in line with the association's new strategy, 'Better Standards, Better Business,' and will include internet-based modules applicable to all garden centre staff.
The GCA's immediate past chairman Dennis Espley said: "We are committed to helping members improve their businesses and as part of this we feel it is extremely important to provide garden centres with a resource that will ensure their continued professional development.
"The eLearning tool will contain modules including product knowledge, customer service, manual handling and food hygiene. It will also be possible to personalise the package in the members' own corporate identity with business specific modules."
A costed proposal has been financed and compiled by the GCA. Following significant support from member garden centres the project is hoped to proceed this year.
Chairman of GCA-member Coolings Garden Centre Paul Cooling said: "I feel that from the initial indication of cost, this represents excellent value for money. This will be another very tangible benefit of GCA membership."
