This year’s HTA conference will not only be distinctly green in its business agenda, but will also be the first major carbon neutral event in the garden industry.
As well as using environment-friendly resources, the HTA is working with CO2 Balance, a carbon offset organisation, to counteract carbon emissions not only at the event, but also from delegates travelling to and from the conference venue.
"Together we have calculated the event's carbon footprint and all the carbon dioxide emissions will be offset through planting broadleaf native species such as ash and oak as part of a forestry project at Sand Martin Wood near Carlisle," said conference organiser Cecilia Slinn.
The HTA annual conference will be hosted at the stylish Crowne Plaza hotel overlooking Chester racecourse.
For 2007 the conference programme addresses two key themes - efficient production, retail and service operations, and that 'going green' is good for the environment and busineses.
