Greenfingers chair steps down after 14 years
Greenfingers, which creates gardens at children's hospices across the country, is keen for Mr Jackson's successor to grow the charity even further and carry on his 14 years of good work.

The charity's management board vice-chair John Little said: "Greenfingers raised more than £300,000 last year, representing its most successful year yet, and we are looking for someone to take over as chair to drive the charity even further forward."

Mr Jackson decided to step down due to an increase in professional commitments, but has revealed he will continue to stay involved with the charity as an active ambassador and board member. Mr Little added that the charity's success over the years has "largely been due to [his] tireless energy and commitment."

"This is a very exciting time for Greenfingers," he added. "In recent years we have seen a significant increase in profile, in funds raised and in charitable activity, and we are now entering a period of further growth and consolidation.

"We are sure the new chair will find the role interesting, enjoyable and extremely rewarding. This unpaid position will be available from June onwards for an initial period of two years."

Four years ago the charity appointed a new team of specialist staff to provide what it describes as "a small, yet competent, infrastructure" to work with the trustees, members and children's hospices. In 2011 a consultant was brought in to carry out a strategic review to ensure the charity is fit-for-purpose for the future.

Recommendations from last year's review are now being put in place and the new chair will have the opportunity to play a key role in ensuring their implementation.

Mr Little added: "We would like to thank Richard for all his hard work and wish him all the best with the other opportunities he now wishes to pursue."

For more information about the position, contact John Little on 07836 529526. For a copy of the candidate pack, contact Sally Whitaker via sally@greenfingerscharity.org.uk. The closing date for applications is Monday, March 26.
