Grimsby garden centre goes on the market

Published: 8 October 2012
A garden centre near Grimsby has been put up for sale as the owners prepare to retire.
Peter and Dee Skiba hope to sell Alford Nurseries and Garden Centre in Laceby to someone who will keep the business going. However, the site, which is on the edge of the town and opposite Morrisons, would also lend itself to a housing development or retail park.

Mr and Mrs Skiba have built the business up over 19 years from a nursery and florist. Today, it employs 25 members of staff on the 2.85 acre site, and it has obtained planning permission to extend the café.

The owners insist that they would prefer to pass on Alford Nurseries and Garden Centre to someone who will continue to develop it. Meanwhile, the centre remains open for business and is now preparing for Christmas.
