Grow-your-own boost for North East garden centre

Published: 19 February 2008
Cowell's Garden Centre in Woolsington near Newcastle Airport says home-grown vegetables are in demand as people's lifestyles continue to embrace healthier living.
The North-east based centre is reporting an upsurge in sales thanks to interest in grow-your-own food.

The centre is taking advantage of a local newspaper 'Taste' campaign promoting the benefits of buying, and growing locally sourced food.

According to press reports, the centre has seen an 'upsurge' in sales of packets of vegetable seeds as consumers respond to coverage in newspapers, magazine and cookery programmes.
