Half of households cut back on employing help

Consumers are becoming more self-reliant when it comes to jobs around the home.
This means, that while it's bad news for odd job men and window cleaners, but they're going to be buying DIY products for themselves.
The research, by insurers Legal and General, showed a 45% drop in people employing help with household chores, demand for the 'odd job' person dropping by 86% and work for window cleaners down by 48%.
Londoners are most likely to be picking up tools with 10% pledging to give up help if times get tough.
In comparison just 2% of people in the Midlands would be willing to sacrifice help in the home.
Legal & General's marketing director, Garry Skelton, said: "A significant number of people will be rolling up their sleeves and doing more work around the house in the next few months."
