Chapel‐en‐le‐Frith store Hall’s Mica Hardware has celebrated its quarter-century in business this year with a weekend of giveaways, special offers and a charity prize draw.
The Derbyshire retailer was also featured in its local press and is appearing on the cover of Mica's June monthly promotional brochure as part of the cooperative's 'putting faces to Mica names' campaign.
Hall's Mica, led by husband-and-wife team Joyce and Harry Hall, is one of the area's oldest and best-known shops, with what Mica says is an unrivalled offer and unparalleled reputation for product knowledge, customer service and knowing its customers. It also inspires loyalty amongst its staff, with Jean Robinson and Laraine French having worked at the store prior to the Halls buying the shop, and now between them having over 100 years' experience there.
The store is celebrating its silver anniversary in the same year that it won a Silver Hardware Retailer of the Year accolade in DIY Week's 2012 Awards. It also won the Mica Member award for purchasing commitment at this year's Mica Exchange conference.
A founder member of Mica, Hall's promotes monthly and bases its large window displays around the month's promotional special offers, and is enjoying record-breaking sales figures.
Said Mrs Hall: "When we took over the store we knew we couldn't afford to stand still and knew we needed to modernise. We introduced EPOS computerised stock control and have gradually expanded into lots of new areas."
In recent years the shop has also undergone a refit of shelving, layout and lighting, and has expanded its shop floor area.
Mica CEO Steve Ball commented: "Hall's are a great example of a Mica store treasuring its independent status whilst embracing both the need for cooperation in the sector with buying and marketing, and the changing needs of their customers. Many congratulations to them on this special occasion."
