Hardware and electricals boost The Original Factory Shop

Hardware lines were a star performer for The Original Factory Shop in the six months to September 30.
The discount retailer said that sales of hardware, electrical and homewares rose by over 25% during the period, delivering a rise in like-for-like sales of 5.8% and in pre-tax profits of 30%.
The Original Factory Shop is reportedly one of the fastest-growing retailers in the UK: it opened 10 more stores this year and now operates 183 in total.
It said that highlights of the six months were its 5,000 sales of Vax steam window cleaners, and Tefal products.
Commenting on the results, chief executive Angela Spindler, a former managing director of Debenhams, said: "People are not looking for cheap things, they are looking for quality products at good prices. Our model thrives in towns that are under-served. We usually open in a boarded-up store, petrol station or nightclub."
The company aims to grow its presence to 450 over the next six years.
