Hardware store Morreys to team up with Sainsbury's

Published: 21 September 2012
Cheshire village hardware and DIY retailer Morreys is set to join up with Sainsbury's and incorporate a small convenience store within the unit.
Morreys, which lays claim to be the oldest business in the village of Holmes Chapel, has submitted a planning application to Cheshire East Council for two units, giving the independent the chance to continue trading in a tailor-made, open-plan unit.

According to local press, the new Sainsbury's will retain the Morreys shop frontage. The application pledges to retain and improve the car park at the rear of the unit.

The blueprints are reportedly all part of owner David Morrey's retirement plan for the store's restructuring. It is hoped the new fixture will ensure the Morreys name lives on in the village, and that future investment in the site will be forthcoming.
