A head office expansion and creation of a state-of-the-art flagship store for The Range in Plymouth will bring in 700 jobs to the area.
This huge project will take place as The Range celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and it is expected both the head office expansion and the new flagship store will cost in the region of £8m.
When the expansion of its head office is complete The Range will base its new National Training Academy on the site, where staff from The Range and other companies will be trained.
It is hoped the site will attract a stream of suppliers and sales reps from both the UK and overseas who will add to the local economy.
Owner and founder of The Range, Chris Dawson, said: "This is the single most exciting project that I have been involved in for a long time. The opportunity to commit my company's long-term future and head office jobs to Plymouth has been a dream of mine for some time now.
"As the store network continues to grow and we reach our 100th store, the business activities to support these operations, such as buying, logistics, marketing, IT, accounts, customer services and many more departments are all increasing in size on a regular basis.
"This project will provide me with enough space to grow these teams as well as consolidate a number of other business activities which currently take place across the country."
The new store will become the company's flagship and will be fitted to a high specification including a cafe and full product offering.
Mr Dawson adds: "The majority of these 700 jobs are high quality and involve specialist skills such as graphic design, writing software and product testing. The National Training Academy will be a centre of excellence which I hope will gain worldwide recognition. I will put Plymouth on the map as a place where national business can thrive."
