Nursery chain acquires centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire following Hurrans' demise after 100 years of trading.
Hillier Nurseries has taken over Hurrans' Banbury centre. The five-strong garden centre chain went into administration in late January, closing three of its stores. The two remaining centres - Banbury and West Hagley - were to be sold as going concerns.
Hillier managing director, Andy McIndoe told Horticulture Week: "It's a good move for us because the centre is between our centres at Newbury and Redditch. We're establishing a new lease with the landlord. We're excited about it. It's a petite centre but we do have smaller sites so it suits us."
The new branch will join Hillier's 13-strong network of garden centres across the UK.
