Home Bargains opens in Llangollen

Published: 10 July 2017 - Sue Deane

Home Bargains and Aldi open this week at the 'ghost supermarket' site in Llangollen.

The site was completed at the end of 2015 but with no occupier to move in after the Sainsbury’s chain withdrew from the project.

Home Bargains opened its store on Saturday

while Aldi opens on Thursday, creating around 100 jobs between them.

"I have been supportive of investment which would complement the existing wide range of shops and services in the town,” said Clwyd South AM Ken Skates. "I welcome the job opportunities Aldi and Home Bargains will bring to Llangollen and hope to see as many of them as possible taken up by local people."

A Home Bargains spokesman said they were pleased to be opening the doors to the store in Llangollen as they have “been waiting so long for this and cannot wait."
