A prize draw at the Home Hardware Southwest Autumn Trade Show raised £525 for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF). Fire Angel was also voted Best Display Stand, awarding a cash prize and certificate to the company.
The show, held on September 18, was reported to be a big success, with 130 exhibitors attending. The winner of the £100 cash prize draw was Andy Brittain from Millers of Frome. Home Hardware Southwest said it "would like to thank all members, suppliers and staff who generously contributed towards this very worthy charity."
Meanwhile, Fire Angle (Spru Safety Products Ltd) was voted Best Display Stand, and Rob Lyon, national accounts and marketing manager, was presented with a £100 cash prize and a certificate. The show awards were judged by an independent panel and presented by chairman of Home Hardware, David Adams. Electrical and housewares products distributor, RKW, received the runners up prize of £50 and Apollo Housewares and Henkel were both highly commended.
The judging panel agreed that the Fire Angel stand had "excellent eye-catching presence in the hall". It demonstrated how quickly a fire can spread in a kitchen and the importance of having an active smoke alarm. Attention to detail and "theatre style drama" was noted by the judges.
Mr Adams commented: "I'm delighted so many suppliers have supported our Autumn Trade Show. It's no surprise that retailers are drawn to well merchandised, well-lit supplier stands. We appreciate it takes time for suppliers to dress their stands but the hard work is well worth it when retailers place additional stock orders."
