A Scottish couple plan to open a Home Hardware concept store on the site of an old Woolworths in Dunoon, Argyll.
Lorraine and Kenneth Grogans, who already own several shops and a restaurant in the town, have asked Home Hardware Scotland managing director Jim Ferguson to take charge of the refit of the new store.
Mrs Grogans said: "It's coming together like the pieces of a jigsaw. Home Hardware have been extremely helpful. They've put together the plans and provided the stock, which means I don't have to do any buying at the moment."
This is the Grogans' first foray into hardware, although Mrs Grogans explained that the town is in desperate need of a DIY store. "The site was an old Wooworths and wasn't doing anybody any good. We're a tourist area on the west coast of Scotland and I really think the town needs something more than gift shops and souvenir stores."
The couple also own The Curiosity Shop, which is situated next door to the site,
An official opening date has not been decided upon yet, although Mrs Grogans confirmed that it will be around the end of July.
She added: "We're working flat out doing 14 hour days just trying to get it finished. My husband is 74, I'm 68 and it's given us a new lease of life."
