The Home Retail group is responding to the credit crunch by offering customers the chance to snap up bargain price sofas.
Both Argos and Homebase will sell clearance line from their ranges at discounted prices through www.saveonasofa.co.uk

The site is online now but has not been officially launched and the links to discount and end of range sofas, currently, do not work.

The site is potentially the first in a series and, if successful, could see Home Retail launch others to sell off similar big-ticket items.

A spokeswoman for the group told diyweek.net: "No decisions will be made about its future until the trial has been completed.

"Several complimentary domain names have also been purchased that may be of use in the future.

"This is standard practice and nothing significant has been planned for these at this stage.

"We are working towards a launch date for saveonasofa.co.uk, but we are currently unable to confirm further details."

Home Retail Group is one of the UK's leading home and general merchandise retailer with sales of £6bn in the last financial year.
