John Shaw has been appointed to Homebase's executive team as the company's new HR director.

Mr Shaw will report to both Homebase md Paul Loft and parent company Home Retail Group's HR director Julie Elder.

With extensive experience in a diverse range of sectors, Mr Shaw has previously led a number of peoples programmes at director level for businesses including the Post Office, Whitbread, Centrica, AOL and DST Global Solutions.

He will work to help Homebase deliver its people plan, which is vital in delivering the growth plan to transform store experiences, step change multi-channel capability and enhance products and brands.

Md Mr Loft said: "We are delighted that John has joined us at this time.

"Drawing on his extensive experience, he is already making a difference and developing long term plans to build on the early successes of programmes such as Liberation, which is enabling store colleagues to spend more time with customers."

Mr Shaw said of his appointment: "I am delighted to take on this role at this exciting time for the business and can see tremendous opportunities as we shift into new ways of working, build skills and capability around technology and grow talent for the future."
