A new Homebase survey revealed the top five DIY jobs people are likely to do this Easter weekend are garden planting, putting in new flooring, replacing the bathroom, replacing the kitchen and laying decking or patio.
The UK's largest ever Home and Garden survey had more than 200,000 respondents, 75% of which said they are spending as much or more on DIY despite the recession.
The retailer has also compiled statistics on key products for 2010 based on sales from Good Friday and Easter Sunday 2009. Last year, Homebase sold more than 60,000 metres of laminate flooring, enough to run the length of Gatwick airport runway more than 20 times.
More than 175,000 tiles also flew off the shelves along with enough interior paint to cover the land mass of the Isle of Wight.
In garden products, Homebase sold more than 12,000 lawnmowers over the Easter weekend last year, as well as more than 9m litres of compost and more than 190,000 plants.
Current deals at Homebase that will continue over the Easter weekend include 25% off selected wallpaper, two for £19 on Dulux 2.5 litre coloured emulsion, two for £20 on Crown 2.5 litre coloured emulsion and two for £16 on 2.5 litre Home of Colour emulsion. Customers can also get a third off selected flooring, three for two on selected plants and a third off selected tiling.
Specific deals for the Easter weekend are to be announced on Thursday morning.
