Homebase in consultation over future of Stevenage store

Published: 28 January 2014
Homebase has confirmed that closure is on the cards for its store in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.
Homebase in consultation over future of Stevenage store
The news backs up comments that have been posted on diyweek.net by readers this year, who have picked up rumours about the fate of the outlet. They follow the announcement by Homebase at the end of 2012 that it was to close 40 stores.

The Stevenage Homebase operates on the town's Roaring Meg retail park and employs 50 people.

Homebase said: "Homebase can confirm that the business has entered a period of consultation concerning the proposed closure of our store in Stevenage. Colleagues at the store have been informed and we will be working with them over the next few weeks to support them as much as possible."

There is no firm confirmation yet that the store is to shut down.

The Stevenage store will have confirmation today wether or not they will be closed down for good. A massive blow to homebase if one of their high turn over stores was to close.
