Home improvement retailer asks the public to nominate projects in their local area as part of its Transforming the Nation campaign.
Following the recent transformation of Carlisle railway station for Homebase's latest ad, the retailer has teamed up with UKTV to offer people the chance to win a £10,000 makeover for their community.
People will be able to nominate a project ranging from their local football club's changing rooms or care home's garden to a scout hut or even the town hall.
All nominations have to be in by midnight on March 27 and are asked to include details on what needs doing to the building, garden or place in question as well as a photo. As an extra incentive, all entrants will be put into a prize draw to win £500 of Homebase vouchers.
Homebase and UKTV, which operates the Home channel and Good Food, have stated that they will only consider projects that require cosmetic attention or minor repairs and improvements, including painting, plastering, woodwork, small electrical jobs and cleaning. The £10,000 budget will include materials, labour and VAT, while the design will be agreed with the building or project owner before the work takes place.
Ten finalists will then be put to a public vote on
lovehome.co.uk/transform on April 18, with the winner announced the following month.
It is likely that the winning project will be featured in Homebase's Transforming the Nation ad campaign, with filming set to take place sometime between May 24 and June 6.
Last month Homebase completely
transformed Carlisle station using 260 sq m of wallpaper, 1,800 litres of paint, more than 40 kitchen units and 1,500 sq m of flooring. Locals loved the look so much they formed a
Facebook group to keep the colourful makeover. Unfortunately, the petition was unsuccessful, as the station is a listed building, and the site was returned to its former glory once filming finished. Homebase also made over a park bench as part of the campaign, surrounding it with pot plants, garden furniture, fencing, a barbecue and cushions.
