Homebase tees off for charity

25 leading Homebase suppliers took part in the first ever Homebase charity golf day at Woburn Golf Club on Friday September 7
The event in Buckinghamshire, organised by Homebase buyers Paul Housego and Karen Soper, raised £9,400 for both Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Irish Cancer Society.
Great weather and a pristine course - following the European Senior Masters a week earlier - greeted the players as they teed off simultaneously on Friday morning.
Individual accolades were also handed out on the day, with the winning team announced as handtool supplier Bahco. Runner up, Vileda, was well represented with Iain Donnelly also taking the men's individual stableford title.
Co-organiser Miss Soper saw off the competition on the day and bagged the individual women's title. Various other fundraising activities were held throughout the day.
Mr Housego said: "We are looking to expand on what was achieved this year and an obvious target is to go above and beyond the money we managed to raise this time. The event went better than we could have hoped for and we have already taken a large number of requests for places in next year's challenge."
