Boundary Mill Stores has unveiled plans to expand its existing business at its site in Colne, near Burnley, to include a new garden centre and farm shop.
A spokeswoman for the company confirmed the news: "We are delighted to announce the proposed expansion of Boundary Mill Stores, Colne for a new garden centre, tea rooms and farm shop on the site opposite the store at the end of the M65, which will generate around 300 full/part time jobs to further support the local economy.
"We anticipate opening Easter 2015 after a 12-month build programme."
Local MPs are showing their support for the plans and have said the construction of the new site will help to create more jobs; however, others are disapproving and have claimed that traffic congestion will negatively impact the area.
Boundary Mill's Colne site is one of five across the mid to north of the country. The company advertises itself as a destination day out for home furnishings, cookware, gifts and clothing fashions.
