Figures for the department chain's penultimate week of its financial year showed sales up 15.2% at the Croydon 'at home' branch.
Poole's John Lewis at home store also performed well, with a 13.8% increase on last year. The company reported that all four home buying groups were up year-on-year and are now cumulatively ahead for the half.
Furniture sales showed a particularly high result at +7%, supported by double-digit growth from beds, fitted furniture and living and dining.
Director of selling operations for region A Nat Wakely described "a cracking week" for the John Lewis website, with sales in the home category up 34%, and sales for electrical and home technology surging by 48%.
Mr Wakely added: "Last week saw [the website's] second highest growth in traffic for the year and an improvement on all the key measurables, leading to a particularly stunning level of sales on beds and special buy laptops.
"Returning to the shops, 16 made it to the increases, led by Liverpool at +11%, Leicester at +8.2% and Norwich at +6.1% ... Even better increases came from two of the at home branches: Croydon at +15.2% and Poole at 13.8%, with Croydon really on a roll over the last few weeks."
He added that the upcoming digital switchover is "clearly benefiting" the sale of TVs in the electrical and home technology department.
