Hozelock appoints new CEO following French takeover
Published: 25 October 2012
Hozelock ceo David Algar is being replaced by Marc Ballu, a third generation member of the Ballu family who own Exel Industries, the company which
took over the gardening supplier just weeks ago.
The news comes despite Mr Algar assuring DIY Week at the time of the acquisition that there would not be any head-count changes and Hozelock would carry on "as usual for all our customers, suppliers and employees."
Mr Ballu is now planning to relocate to the UK with his family. He will be responsible for all of the group's consumer companies and comes to Hozelock from a strong background in consumer markets, including Mars.
"I'm excited about joining Hozelock," he said. "The acquisition sees one of the leading French firms in agricultural, industrial and consumer spraying join forces with Hozelock's much loved gardening brands, to create a formidable proposition in the consumer market for gardening products.
"Hozelock customers and suppliers should rest assured that the business remains dedicated to delivering the best products and services possible."
Guerric Ballu, Exel Industries ceo said: "We thank David for his leadership of the Hozelock business over the last two years and wish him all success in his future career."
