Hunter: I should've struck sooner

Published: 27 May 2008
I knew the supermarkets would be interested at some point, he tells Scotland on Sunday.
'The mistake was not going for it [Dobbies] sooner' Sir Tom Hunter told Scotland on Sunday.

Speaking at the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday 25, Sir Tom said, 'we [West Coast Capital Lios] dilly-dallied for a year, which in hindsight was a mistake'.

However, Sir Tom remained unbowed following the loss of legal action to halt Dobbies' shares issue and said he did not pursue the matter further as he feared a year-long court battle.

He also left the door open for future battles with Tesco/Dobbies when he answered simply, 'Could be' to a question on the matter.

Last week Sir Tom Hunter agreed to sell his 29.2 per cent stake in the garden centre chain.
