Husqvarna, Cuprinol and Westland were the big winners in this year’s GIMA awards, announced at Birmingham on Thursday July 19.
Husqvarna's big winner was the
Flymo Pac-a-Shredder, which won both the garden machinery category, and also the GIMA Sword of Excellence for the best overall new product.
Cuprinol's cordless sprayer took the garden equipment and sundries category, and the company also won the advertising category with its 'laughing policeman' tv campaign.
Westland's success came through the Unwins seed potato pallet, which won the indoor marketing category, and also the GIMA Award of Excellence for the best overall marketing activity.
Winner in the garden care category was
Scotts' Miracle Gro Liqua Feed, and the Christmas category went to
Plum Tree's card hangers.
Vivid Arts took the hard landscaping award with its stepping stones, and
Town & Country's Mini Fun barbecue won the outdoor leisure category.
Strata Products scooped the environmental award with its biodegradable plastic pots.
Best outdoor marketing award went to
Aggregate Industries' mini A-frame displays, and the packaging award was won by
Three Sixty Innovations' Garden Angels Colours range.
The GCA Supplier of the Year award was a tie between multiple previous title holder
Gardman, and
William Sinclair.
The Gardenex award for export achievement went to
Smart Solar.
A raffle at the award dinner raised nearly £2,000 for the garden industry charity Green Fingers appeal.
